National Debt Defence
A personal finance accountability site - tracking the journey to financial independence, month by month.

A website I built to hold myself accountable on the road to financial independence. Under a military “mission” framing - Financial Independence for Freedom · a military mindset for life, finance and freedom - I tracked my net worth month to month, set out missions and goals, and posted monthly updates for all to see. Putting the numbers in public made me accountable.
What it did
- Month to month - progress updates showing how all my “Dolla-reedoos” were working for me, tracked over time.
- Missions - goals laid out publicly, as motivation to actually hit them.
- Posts & updates - regular net-worth updates and reflections on the journey.

Why it mattered
Two things came out of it. First, the accountability: posting income, expenses and net worth monthly kept me honest and on track. Second, it was how I taught myself to build a website - a real project to learn on.
I’ve since wound it down, but the process was a good one. (Archived - the site formerly lived at nationaldebtdefence.com.)
