Start to Finish, I wanted to build and packaged a playable Windows game.

My first proper venture into Unreal Engine 5 - building a real-time 3D world you can actually walk around in, then packaging it up as a standalone playable build.

The Idea

My plan was just to create something super basic that had a menu, a pause menu, and a level that I could package up and actually run on my PC. I got the assets from Andrew Hamilton who’s working overseas and missing Australia, see the link below. It’s truly incredible what he creates.

What I learned

There’s so much that goes into all of this and its overwhelming at times but this was just a test that I could actually follow through and build something from start to finish. Its a piece of proof to myself that I can create.
